Visit the first castle on the Loire for a break in the heart of the Nantes vineyards

Take advantage of this summer to visit the Château de Goulaine, open every afternoon until 21 August!

This magnificent Renaissance château dating from the 15th century, built of Tuffeau stone, and its beautiful park await you for a lively and dynamic 1h15 guided tour. This visit will be offered by one of the guides of the castle of Goulaine.

You will discover the kitchens dating from the 15th century, the 4 Renaissance salons, the King's bedroom and the cabinet of curiosities. You will learn about the history of the castle and the de Goulaine family through the guide's explanations of the architecture, the richness of the decorations and the different phases of construction of the castle.

The foundations of the castle are more than 1,000 years old, this medieval fortress was built to defend the Duchy. Its vast French garden covers more than two hectares and overlooks the Goulaine marshes.

During the visit it is possible to hire costumes for children: princesses or knights, the choice is theirs! A treasure hunt also allows them to discover the castle's rooms while having fun.

1500 hectares of nature

Once you have visited the castle, the Goulaine marshes await you for beautiful walks following the yellow signs from Haute Goulaine. (9 km).

The Goulaine marshes are a Natura 2000 listed site for the quality and natural richness of the fauna and flora present. The variety of landscapes and rare plants, as well as the numerous species of birds you will discover, will not fail to amaze you.

Go up to the Butte de la Roche, culminating at an altitude of 47 metres, it reveals a magical panorama of the Château, the marshes and the vineyard slopes.
